31 August 2026 - Project paint recipes

• Project-only paint lists: Paints can be added to a project recipe without adding them to the owner’s Paint Chest or wishlist.
• A clear choice when adding paints: Manual paint selection now offers Project paint list only, Paint Chest - mark as owned, or Wishlist - add missing paints.
• Optional screenshot wishlist updates: Screenshot recognition adds matched paints to the project by default. Members can opt in if missing paints should also be added to the wishlist.
• Complete copied recipes: Creating a project from a shared guide always copies its full paint list. Adding missing paints to the wishlist remains optional.
• Paint-list indicators: Project cards and guide cards now show a paint-brush icon when a paint recipe is available.
• Clean screenshot dialog: The image preview remains fully hidden until a screenshot has been selected or pasted.
• Bulk wishlist actions: Select one or more wishlist paints, then mark them as purchased or remove them together.
• Recipe-safe removals: Removing paints from the wishlist does not remove them from any project paint lists.
• Paint range filters: Paint Chest views can be narrowed by range type, including Base, Layer, Contrast, Shade and Technical.
• Clearer paint-list indicators: Paint-brush markers remain on project and Guide Library summary cards, but no longer appear on individual painting videos.
• Project-only wishlist action: Paints saved only to a project can now be added directly to the member’s wishlist without removing them from the project.

This release made War Chest easier to discover before joining, faster to use while following a painting guide, and more polished across project, community and mobile views.

New features

• Find paints from a screenshot: Pause a painting video when the paint collection is visible, then paste or upload a screenshot. War Chest analyses the image in the browser, suggests matching catalogue paints and lets you review the results before anything is added.
• Automatic Paint Chest cross-checking: Recognised paints are separated into paints already owned, paints already on the wishlist and missing paints. Owned paints keep their existing status, while missing selections can be added to the project and wishlist.
• Public shared guides: Visitors can now open Guide Library cards and read complete shared guides without signing in or creating an account.
• Complete public guide pages: Public guides can include painting videos, finished-model galleries, builder notes, paint recipes and approved community comments. Signing in is still required to comment or create a project.
• Manual project progress: Project progress can now be set manually when the automatic video-based value does not represent the actual build. Automatic video tracking can be restored at any time.

Landing page and branding

• A more compelling public home page: The signed-out landing page now explains the purpose of War Chest with the “Build boldly. Share what works.” introduction, a cinematic featured guide and six smaller shared-guide tiles.
• Guide Library preview before registration: New visitors can search and filter shared guides to understand what War Chest offers before deciding to join.
• Front-end sign-in and registration: Member access remains within the War Chest experience, with clear sign-in and account-creation routes instead of sending ordinary members into the WordPress dashboard.
• New War Chest identity: The new shield-and-W logo is now used across the landing page, signed-in navigation, mobile header and browser favicon.

Project improvements

• Gallery viewer: Finished-model photographs now open in an on-page gallery rather than a new browser tab. Users can move backwards and forwards through every image.
• Better image fitting: Gallery images resize inside the viewer on desktop and mobile without adding unwanted scrolling around the photograph.
• Shared gallery parity: The same gallery experience is available when viewing finished images in a published community guide.
• Restored video progress tracking: The hero progress bar once again follows painting-video progress when automatic tracking is enabled.
• Clearer progress controls: Projects now show whether progress is automatic or manually overridden.
• Improved paint actions: “Add paints” and “Find paints from screenshot” now sit together at the right edge of the Paints for this build section, with consistent sizing, spacing and mobile padding.
• Clearer video wording: “Add guide” is now labelled “Add video” on project pages.
• Cleaner project video cards: The redundant “Open project” action has been removed when the user is already viewing that project.
• Pinned projects: Projects can now be pinned from their Command Centre cards. Pinned projects stay first while the selected name or progress sort continues to order the remaining cards.

Community improvements

• Clearer project creation action: The community-guide action now reads “Create as a project”.
• Better guide layout: Builder notes now appear above painting videos on every shared guide page.
• Collapsible publishing settings: The Community Publishing panel is compact by default, expands from its heading and remembers its open or closed state for each project.
• Visible sharing status: The collapsed panel shows whether the current build is private or shared in the Guide Library.
• Full-width discussion actions: The sign-in and account-creation buttons now fill the discussion panel on desktop and stack at full width on mobile.
• Cleaner publishing control: The Community Publishing summary now uses a compact theme chevron that rotates when the panel opens.

Release information

• Release notes on the website: This update is now available as an editable page on War Chest.
• Footer access: A Release notes link is available from the public landing page and the signed-in app.

Fixes and data corrections

• Fixed gallery photographs opening in separate browser tabs.
• Fixed oversized gallery images causing scrolling inside the viewer.
• Fixed the project hero progress bar losing its connection to video progress.
• Corrected button alignment and spacing around project paint actions.
• Reallocated the paints accidentally attached to Angron - Daemon Primarch of Khorne to Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur. The user’s Paint Chest records were not changed.
• Confirmed visitors can open shared guides anonymously while protected actions remain available only to signed-in members.

Privacy and access

• Private projects and each user’s Paint Chest remain private.
• Only builds explicitly shared by their owner appear publicly.
• Shared build authors remain anonymous.
• Approved comment text and commenter display names can be read publicly.
• Commenting, project creation, publishing and collection changes still require a signed-in account.

Breaking changes

There are no breaking changes and no action is required from existing members.
